Plywood shall be anchored to steel with self -tapping, case-hardened <br />screws. <br />a. Screws shall have a flat, counter -sunk head. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 Nailers: <br />A. Nailers are to be installed to match the height of the new insulation. <br />B. All lumber is to be installed with joints true and tight. <br />C. Bent or twisted fasteners are to be removed and replaced. <br />D. Nailers shall be anchored to meet FM 1-49 requirements. <br />E. Fasteners are to be spaced a maximum of 24" on center for nailers with a <br />minimum thickness of 2" nominal, and 12" on center for all nailers less than 2" <br />nominal thickness. <br />F. Anchoring devices shall consist of the following: <br />1. Masonry and/or concrete surfaces shall have wood nailers anchored direct <br />spaced not greater than 36" on center. <br />Note: Embed bolts minimum 8" into new masonry, with block cores <br />filled with concrete and new concrete surfaces. <br />2. Structural steel flanges shall have wood nailers anchored direct with <br />minimum 3/8" diameter bolts, spaced not greater than 36" on center. <br />Wood structural support members shall be anchored with 3/8" diameter <br />bolts at point of each bearing. Steel deck (light gauge) surfaces shall have <br />wood nailers anchored direct with 2 rows of 1/4" diameter metal lag-type <br />and/or pan -head No. 12 screws spaced not greater than 12" on center for <br />each row (staggered). <br />3.02 Plywood: <br />A. Vertical surfaces on perimeters, walls and curbs. <br />1.
