D. Expansion Joint Cover Flashings: <br />1. Expansion joint cover flashing shall be designed for easy removal, and <br />fabricated in minimum 96 -inch lengths. Flashing shall be formed to <br />provide complete watertightness to expansion joint assembly. Covers <br />shall be formed with a sloping top. Skirt flashings shall be of size <br />indicated with bottom edge folded under 1/2 inch, fabricated in such <br />manner as to hold bottom firmly against flashing, and formed to fit <br />contour or slope of roof. Both cover and skirt members when installed <br />shall be securely fastened with gasketed screws. <br />2. Joint cover plates shall be 6 inches wide and be fabricated of same gauge <br />and materials as flashing. Furnish complete with continuous ribbons of <br />flashing sealant as detailed. <br />E. Leader Heads and Overflow Scuppers: <br />1. Leader heads shall be formed of the same gauge material as the perimeter <br />flashing into which they frame. <br />2. Sheets forming the leader head shall be riveted together and soldered to <br />form a watertight pan. Leader head lining shall extend through and <br />project outside the fascias. On the roof side, the leader head lining shall <br />be of sufficient length to be built into the roofing at least 6 inches. <br />Provide a 3 -inch long outlet tube in bottom of leader head for attaching <br />downspout. <br />3. Scuppers shall be fabricated similar to leader heads, except scupper lining <br />shall extend through and project outside the walls, leaving about 1/2 -inch <br />clearance between masonry and lining. <br />F. Gutters: <br />1. Gutters shall be fabricated in maximum lengths of 40 feet. Location of <br />expansion joints will be as shown on plan view. <br />2. Gutter shape and size will be as shown on detail drawings. <br />3. Gutter brackets and straps or spacers shall be as shown in the SMACNA <br />Manual and/or detail drawings. <br />G. Open -Faced Downspouts: <br />1. Open-faced downspouts shall be formed of the same gauge and material as <br />the gutter and/or leader head to which they connect. <br />2. The downspout shall be open-faced with exposed edges hemmed. End <br />joints shall telescope 1-1/2 inches and be riveted or screwed. Attach to <br />wall with 1/8 -inch thick strap brackets not over 5 feet apart and designed <br />to support downspout approximately 1 inch from face of wall. Provide all <br />necessary elbows, offsets or other fittings required.
