CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM 3A
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Karlson
MEETING DATE: November 9, 2015
TOPIC: Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Community
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5
INTRODUCTION
The City Council is being asked to adopt a resolution supporting Lino Lakes as a Beyond the
Yellow Ribbon Community.
BACKGROUND
Lino Lakes has taken the first steps towards becoming a Yellow Ribbon City. Beyond the
Yellow Ribbon is a comprehensive program that creates awareness for the purpose of
connecting military service members, veterans, and their families with community support,
training, services, and resources.
A group of community leaders from the American Legion Post 566, Lino Lakes Lions Club,
Chain of Lakes Rotary Club, and the Lino Lakes City Council have met several times to
support this effort. The City of Lino Lakes hosted a kick-off event on October 6, 2015 by
inviting other community leaders to learn about the program in order to generate more
community support. Other neighboring communities are also engaged in this process.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution No. 15-129, supporting Lino Lakes becoming a Beyond the Blue Ribbon
Community.
ATTACHMENTS
Resolution No. 15-129
