1 1 COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 25, 1988 The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes City Council was called to order by Mayor Benson at 7:12 P.M., January 25, 1988. Council. Members present: Marier, Bisel, Bohjanen, Reinert. Council Members absent: None. City Administrator, Randy Schumacher; Engineer, Ron Stahlberg; Attorney, Bill Hawkins; Planner, John Miller; Building Inspector, Pete Kluegel and Clerk- Treasurer, Marilyn Anderson were also present. Mr. Hawkins administered the oath of office to Mr. Marier who was re- -elected on November 3, 1988. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES -- JANUARY 71. 1.988 Mr. Bisel moved to approve these minutes as presented. Mr. . Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried with Mr. Marier abstaining. CONSIDERATION OF DISBURSEMENTS - JANUARY 26, 1988 Mr. Marier moved to approve these Disbursements as presented. Mr. Bisel seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. OPEN MIKE No one appeared under Open Mike. CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENT OF OFFICIAL CITY NEWSPAPER Mr. Howard Lestrud appeared before the Council to represent Sell Publishing. He explained that the Forest Lake Times reaches about 250 readers in Lino Lakes and there are plans to sample certain mail routes to increase the circulation. The Forest Lake Times will feature more human interest stories from Lino Lakes and also contain more indepth news coverage. Mr. Lestrud also noted that a substantial portion of Lino Lakes is in the Forest Lake School District and the Times is the official newspaper for the school district. The Anoka County Union Shopper sent a letter to the City Council requesting that they be considered as the Lino Lakes legal newspaper. A representative was not present. Ms. Charlene Bergerson appeared before the Council to represent the Circulating Pines. There are 179 paid t53
