No.:
Routing:
14288.000
The draft Transportation Plan was presented and discussed at the April 13, 2009 Planning
Commission meeting and at the April 14, 2009 Council Workshop meeting. At each meeting, the
presentation was followed by discussion and comments. These discussions ultimately resulted in
the need for some revisions and updates to the draft. Having completed these changes, the draft
Plan is ready for Council approval to distribute. This memorandum discusses the changes that
have occurred.
® Two policy statements have been added reflecting our discussion of Trunk Highway 36
grade -separation and parkway standards on Trunk Highway 36 and Manning Avenue
(CSAH 15).
The City will support grade -separation of Trunk Highway 36 from the current at -
grade intersections in pursuit of the City goals to provide safe and adequate
service to Trunk Highway 36 for residents and businesses while minimizing back
tracking to gain access and while minimizing pass through traffic on local
roadways.
Parkway standards will be encouraged and supported on four -Ian-, corridors in the
City, such as Trunk Highway 36 and the potential expansion of Manning Avenue
(CSAH 15).
The discussion of a new east -west roadway between 1 Oth Street (CSAH 10) and Hudson
Boulevard (I-94 frontage road) includes limiting development access to I Oth Street
(CSAH 10) to reduce "cut -through" traffic.
The Access Management section has been completely revised. The section's new name is
Safety Improvements. This section discusses four major focus areas of safety: Education,
Enforcement, Engineering, and Emergency Medical Services. The engineering sub-
section includes the access management information and specific discussion of
roundabouts. Providing paved shoulders on the roads is now mentioned. A greater
emphasis on school safety is also included.
• The Transit section emphasizes increased transit opportunity for the Village area.
k Employee owned Compan.v Promocag AYirmaw6 AcYon and Egaal OpporuNry
