ETRO CITIES <br />Association of Metropolitan Municipalities <br />Metro Cities Legislative Policy Committees <br />The following committees annually develop policy based on input from member city <br />representatives. The committees submit their policy recommendations to the Board for review, <br />modification and distribution to the general membership. The membership meets in November <br />before each legislative session to debate and adopt the Metro Cities' policies. Sign-up on back. <br />Metropolitan Agencies <br />Considers legislative issues and other policies related to the Met Council and metro agencies and <br />monitors the structure and relationship between the regional and local units of government. It <br />has developed policy in the areas of land use planning, solid waste management, the Met Council <br />selection process, livable communities, water supply and inflow and infiltration. It also reviews <br />the council's yearly budget. <br />Municipal Revenues <br />Considers any matter concerning city revenues, property taxes and city expenditures, including <br />state aid formulas and dollars, levy limits, property tax relief programs, property tax assessments <br />and fiscal disparities. <br />Housing & Economic Development <br />Considers all issues related to economic development and housing, including affordable housing <br />and activities of the metro HRA (Housing and Redevelopment Authority). It also develops policy <br />dealing with economic development issues, HRAs, TIF (Tax Increment Financing), and <br />development authorities. Recently, policies have been developed in the areas of eminent <br />domain, mortgage foreclosures, and Met Council housing targets. <br />Transportation & General Government <br />Considers all issues related to transportation, including funding sources at all government levels, <br />and issues which have impact on metropolitan area cities outside the scope of other Metro Cities <br />committees. Metro Cities' members of the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) and Technical <br />Advisory Committee (TAC) are encouraged to join, along with other city officials. This <br />committee has developed policy on the metro sales tax, photo enforcement of traffic laws, <br />municipal consolidation, pensions, PELRA, comparable worth, data privacy, contractor Iicensing <br />and local control/authority. <br />145 University Ave W'., Si.
