STAFF REPORT
DATE: March 7, 2023
CONSENT
AGENDA ITEM: Abatement of Assessments for 3806 Kindred Way and 3756 Kindred Ct
SUBMITTED BY: Kristina Handt, City Administrator
BACKGROUND: Last fall, council certified assessments for the Hamlet on Sunfish Lake Street and Utility Project. These were properties that had not connected to water and sealed their well and were therefore not eligible for the MPCA grant funds. Since that time, but after assessments were certified to the county, these two properties have met the requirements to be grant eligible. In order to remove the assessments from their property taxes, Council must approve an abatement resolution.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the Council approve the abatement of assessments for water and streets on PID 14.029.21.21.0012 and 14.029.21.21.0014?
PROPOSAL: Included in your packet is a resolution and abatement forms. The total amount of the abatements for each property in 2023 is noted on the form. Staff will then remove the future assessments from the property before the annual deadline in November.
FISCAL IMPACT: None since the city will receive reimbursement from the MPCA grant.
RECOMMENDATION: If removed from the consent agenda:
“Motion to Approve Resolution No 2023-017”
ATTACHMENT
•Resolution No 2023-017
•Abatement Forms
