MEMORANDUM
The District desires the new school building to be connected to the City’s municipal sanitary sewer
and drinking water supply. We understand that this will require an extension of the MUSA
boundary to include this site. In the comments received on the previously submitted Sketch Plan
Review from the Lake Elmo City engineering department, it was stated that all proposed uses on
the property should be served by the City public drinking water supply due to the PFAS
groundwater contamination in the surrounding area. This is in alignment with guidance received
from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Through analysis of 12 months of utility bills from the District’s newest facility (Brookview
Elementary), our research indicates that 578,000 gallons of water were used over a 12-month period.
This equates to an average of six gallons of water used per student per day. For the new facility,
which will serve an estimated 1,100 students, this would extrapolate to 6,600 gallons of water per
day.

Feel free to contact Wold Architects and Engineers or the District with any questions or concerns
you may have.

AM/MN-EDU-ISD834/ES_New Lake Elmo/232224/_Admin/2024.02.05 Revised Memo to Clark Schroeder
