<br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-051 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING MUNICIPAL SUPPORT FOR THE <br />TRUNK HIGHWAY 36 AND COUNTY HIGHWAY 17 (LAKE ELMO AVENUE) <br />INTERCHANGE PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Washington County has, through its Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) recommended <br />improvements to the intersection of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) No. 17, also known as Lake <br />Elmo Avenue and Trunk Highway (TH) 36, to improve vehicle safety, vehicle mobility, and <br />bikeability/walkability in this area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Washington County, in consultation with the MnDOT, the City of Lake Elmo, and <br />the City of Grant, engaged in an intersection study process, beginning in 2021 to identify and evaluate <br />potential improvements to this intersection; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Washington County, together with MnDOT and the Cities of Lake Elmo and Grant, <br />have engaged in a community engagement process as part of the study and preliminary design efforts <br />intended to gather and consider public feedback for the proposed improvements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a preferred concept project layout, also known as the Overpass with Buttonhook <br />Ramps alternative, showing the proposed improvements, dated April 25, 2024, has been prepared and <br />provided to both the City of Lake Elmo and the City of Grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, prior to advertising for contractor bids on the Project, Washington County will <br />present the City with a Cooperative Agreement for the cost sharing of the improvements. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LAKE ELMO, <br /> <br />1. That the City of Lake Elmo supports the preferred concept project layout dated April 25, 2024; <br />and <br /> <br />2.
