<br />LAKE ELMO FIRE DEPARTMENT – OFFICE OF THE FIRE MARSHAL <br />Fire Prevention, Code Enforcement, and Public Education <br /> <br />“Proudly Serving Neighbors and Friends” <br /> <br /> <br />Fire Detection and Suppression <br />• A fire sprinkler system, in compliance with applicable codes, shall be installed throughout the existing building <br />(brough to current code standards) and future additions. Fire sprinkler system water supply shall be connected <br />to city water, supplied through the appropriately sized water supply system. A fire sprinkler system engineer <br />shall inspect the existing system and confirm, if any adjustments are needed when switching from the standby <br />tank system to city water. A permit is required prior to any work. <br /> <br />• Fire hydrants shall be provided in approved locations following review by Engineering and Public works. <br /> <br />• A fire alarm system, in compliance with applicable codes, shall be installed throughout the existing building <br />(brough to current code standards) and future additions. The fire alarm system shall be monitored by a qualified <br />monitoring company and include an addressable dialer. <br /> <br /> <br />Gates, Locks, and Access <br />• Project construction phasing shall accommodate emergency access to the entire construction zone at all times, <br />generally meaning two separate means of entrance/exit as defined in the code.
