City staff did look at the options of leasing this vehicle. The cost of leasing a custom-built vehicle
increases the price significantly, resulting in a higher overall purchase price compared to standard units.
In addition, higher interest rates currently make leasing less cost-effective, increasing the total financing
expense over the term of the lease.
Staff doesn’t suggest pursuing a lease for a custom-built truck for the City at this time. Reviewing this
option for a standard piece of equipment or vehicle in the future may be more cost-effective. A normal
purchase of this custom vehicle better aligns with the City’s goal of maintaining fiscal responsibility
while still meeting operational needs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Purchase of this vehicle outfitted with service body, warning lights, decals and assortment of small tools
will be funded through the vehicle fund as identified in the proposed 2026 CIP. The current CIP has
$68,500 allotted for this purchase.
OPTIONS:
1)Approve the purchase of the Ford F250 and service body as outlined
2)Amend and approve purchase of F250
RECOMMENDATION: (if pulled from Consent)
“Motion to approve the purchase of a Ford F250 Pickup Truck and service body as outlined at a
cost not to exceed $68,500.”
ATTACHMENTS:
Ford F250 quote (Midway Ford state contract pricing)
Crysteel Truck & Equipment (Service body state contract pricing)
EATI (Warning lights quote)
Decals and Small tools
