CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />Community Development Intern/Temp Employee <br />An Equal Opportunity Employer <br />SALARY: $22.00-$25.00 DOQ <br />OPENING DATE: June 3, 2026 <br />JOB TYPE: Temporary <br />CLOSING DATE: June 14, 2026 <br />POSITION TITLE: Community Development Intern <br />DEPARTMENT: Community Development <br />ACCOUNTABLE TO: Community Development Director <br />The City of Lake Elmo in Washington County is seeking a Community Development <br />Intern. This individual should be service oriented, organized, and dependable to fill a <br />temporary summer/fall position. Under the general supervision of the CD Director, the <br />individual will learn about and assist with the community development activities. The <br />primary research project for this role will be to explore use cases of AI/new software in <br />local city government that may support efficiency. Other projects may include <br />community engagement activities and analysis, city code and land use research, and <br />other administrative tasks as assigned. The role will provide a student with valuable <br />exposure to a variety of projects in the public sector. <br />Applicants may be enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergrad or master’s <br />program in public administration, public policy, urban studies, economic development, <br />urban planning, land use planning or a related field; must be proficient with Microsoft <br />Word, Excel and PowerPoints; and planning, policy, and/or coursework or experience <br />is helpful. <br />Resumes are strongly encouraged and all applicants must complete an application on <br />the City of Lake Elmo website at lakeelmo.gov/jobs. <br />Applications must be received by 11:59 PM on June 14, 2026 to be considered.
