Preserved trees do not qualify for a credit or count toward replacement per city
ordinance.
• Only up to 30% of the diameter inches of significant trees may be removed without triggering
replacement. The 30% removal figure applies to each category (hardwood, evergreen, and common
trees) individually. Applicant’s tree removal/replacement summary on sheet TP1.3 needs to be
revised to clearly summarize:
1. Total caliper inches of hardwood trees on site and total caliper inches of hardwood trees proposed
to be removed. Total hardwood inches * 0.3 = allowable removal without replacement. Every
caliper inch removed beyond this number needs to be replaced at a 50% rate.
2. Total caliper inches of evergreen trees on site and total caliper inches of evergreen trees proposed
to be removed. Total evergreen inches * 0.3 = allowable removal without replacement. Every
caliper inch removed beyond this number needs to be replaced at a 50% rate.
3. Total caliper inches of common trees on site and total caliper inches of common trees proposed to
be removed. Total common inches * 0.3 = allowable removal without replacement. Every caliper
inch removed beyond this number needs to be replaced at a 25% rate.
