Whereas, the impact of the Metropolitan Council's decision regarding the Lake Elmo <br />Comprehensive Plan will potentially extend to issues of self determination for each and <br />every unit of government within the 7- County Metropolitan Area. <br />Now therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo that it should and <br />hereby does authorize and direct the Mayor and City Administrator as follows: <br />1. To provide a copy of this Resolution to every unit of local government within the 7- <br />County Metropolitan Area. <br />2. To accompany a copy of the Resolution with a letter from the Lake Elmo Mayor <br />requesting local units of government to carefully consider the potential consequences <br />for the self determination of their unit of government in the context of the <br />Metropolitan Council decision of the Lake Elmo Comprehensive Plan. <br />3. To include in the cover letter froin the Mayor an admonition to other elected local <br />government officials a request that they ask Legislative candidates for their areas <br />their positions regarding the powers of the Metropolitan Council in relation to those <br />of local government in the 7 County Area — particularly with respect to land use and <br />zoning. <br />Adopted by the Lake Elmo City Council this 2" d day of October, 2002. <br />Lee Hunt, Mayor <br />Attest: <br />Mary Kueffner, City Administrator <br />
