MINUTES APPROVED JANUARY 3, 2012 <br />LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 29, 2011 <br />2 <br />Council members discussed “due diligence”, being fiscally responsible, the Library <br />budget, transition, current opportunities and moving forward. <br /> <br />Council Member Park departed at 10:10 a.m. <br /> <br />Eric Lipman, 8249 Deer Pond Ct. N., stated he was angry and disappointed with the <br />library services he will now receive, and believed his current County library card to be <br />valuable as it provided him access to 12 locations, 1.3 million volumes and a rite of <br />passage for children. <br /> <br />Library Board President DeLapp stated that the City will reimburse one card per <br />household and the benefits and services will continue. <br /> <br />Council Member Pearson confirmed that no one is being cut off from the library system, <br />but the City was not getting value from Washington County. <br /> <br />Council Member Emmons departed at 10:36 a.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Lipman reiterated that the decision made by the City to not be a part of the <br />Washington County Library System is a degradation of services to the residents. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnston informed the audience that the inter-library loan program implemented <br />through the County had been denied by the County Board to the City of Lake Elmo. <br /> <br />The City Council adjourned the meeting at 10:49 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted by Carole Luczak, Interim City Clerk <br /> <br />
