Ordinance 08-015 <br />City Council 6-16-09 <br />destination, and each temporary sign permit shall run for 15 days. Temporary <br />signs for special events shall be subject to the following regulations: <br />(a) Only one on -premises temporary sign shall be allowed per business or <br />event. <br />(b) Temporary signs shall be in the form of an allowable sign type in the <br />underlying zoning district. <br />(c) Temporary signs shall not exceed 32 square feet in area and shall not be <br />taller than 10 feet in height. <br />(2) Residential development advertising signs. Independent of the total <br />allowable sign area for individual properties or residences within a residential <br />zoning district, one or more additional ground signs may be erected within a <br />newly established unified residential area development subject to the following: <br />(a) Minimum Development Size <br />i. Projects of less than 25 acres which create ten or more dwelling units are <br />allowed one (1) on -premises ground sign not to exceed 100 square feet <br />of advertising surface; <br />ii. Projects of 26 through 50 acres which create ten or more dwelling units <br />are allowed 1 or 2 on -premises ground signs not to exceed 200 aggregate <br />square feet of advertising surface on the project site; and <br />iii. Projects over 50 acres which create ten or more dwelling units are <br />allowed 1, 2, or 3 on -premises ground signs not to exceed 200 aggregate <br />square feet of advertising surface on the project site. <br />(b) Restrictions. <br />i. No dimension shall exceed 25 feet exclusive of supporting structures. <br />ii. The sign shall not remain once 90% of the lots in the development have <br />been issued building permits. <br />iii. The permit for the sign must be renewed annually by the Council. <br />iv. Only indirect illumination is permitted and shall only occur during those <br />hours when an on -site sales office or model home is open for conducting <br />business. <br />(3) Temporary Off -Premises Signs. Temporary off -premises signs may be <br />erected if all of the following criteria are met: <br />(a) The destination to which the off -premises sign is advertising is a property <br />for sale; <br />(b) An agent must be present at the destination property for sale, and the <br />property must be open for viewing. <br />pg 25 <br />
