Ordinance 97-29 <br />Adopted April 21, 1998 <br />600.10 Discontinuance of Water Service. <br />Subd. 5. Property Access. <br />Failure to allow City employees or authorized representatives onto property for <br />purposes of installing or repairing water meters and/or remote reading devices (MIIJ). <br />600.13 Authorization Required. <br />Only persons authorized by this section shall tap any distributing main or pipe of the <br />water system, or insert stopcocks or ferrules in the main or pipe <br />600.17 Specifications for Service Pipe. <br />Every service pipe must be laid with sufficient waving to allow not less than one foot of <br />extra length and in a manner to prevent rupture by settlement. The service pipe must be <br />placed not less than eight (8) feet below the surface and arranged to prevent rupture by <br />freezing. Service pipes must extend from the curb box to the inside of the building, if not <br />taken into a building, then to the hydrants or other fixtures which it is intended to supply. <br />A shut-off or other stop -cock with waste valve, of the size and strength required, shall be <br />used and placed to be well protected from freezing. Type K copper tubing shall be used <br />up to and including two-inch services. All underground joints are to be mechanical, <br />unless otherwise approved by the plumbing inspector. Joints on copper tubing shall be <br />kept to a minimum, with not more than one joint used for service up to seventy (70) feet <br />in length. All joints and connections shall be left uncovered until inspected and tested at <br />normal water line pressure. Services over two inches shall be Type K copper or Doctile <br />iron pipe. Connections with the mains for domestic supply shall be at least one inch. <br />600.22 Water Cooled Air Conditioning System. <br />No water-cooled air conditioning systems shall be connected to the water system. <br />600.27 Water Meters. <br />Except for extinguishing of fire, no person except authorized City employees shall use <br />water from the water supply system or permit water to be drawn from the system unless <br />the water is metered by passing through a meter supplied or approved by the City. No <br />person not authorized by the City shall connect, disconnect, and take apart, or in any <br />manner change or cause to be changed, or interfere with any meter or the action of the <br />meter. <br />
