Ordinance 97-29 <br />Adopted April 21, 1998 <br />Subd.1 Water Meter Charze. <br />A charge for water meters, and meter interface units, shall be paid to the City by <br />customers for water meters in advance before meter interface unit delivery of the water <br />meter for installation. The charge shall be determined by resolution by the Council. <br />Remote reading devices will be required on all water meters. <br />600.28 Installation of Water Meters. <br />The installation of a water meter shall be installed at the time of structure construction, <br />and shall meet the requirements of this section and shall not be installed prior to receiving <br />a permit approved by the Building Official. The Building Official shall maintain permit <br />application forms. <br />Subd. 1. Installation. <br />Installation of the water meter, raising the curb box to finished grade, and flushing of <br />the lines shall be the responsibility of a plumber duly licensed and registered <br />according to State Statute. The City's Water Department must do turning on the water <br />service. The meter setting shall be provided as follows: <br />A. Meter settings shall be located in the utility, laundry or furnace room and in <br />every case shall be located no more than eight (8) feet from the nearest floor <br />drain unless there is prior approval from the Building Official. <br />B. The setting shall be installed to provide that the meter is between six (6) and <br />twelve (12) inches from the wall and between eighteen (18) and thirty-six (36) <br />inches from the finished floor. <br />C. The Water meter shall have full accessibility with a clear space of three (3) feet <br />in all directions except as noted in paragraph (B.). <br />D. Each meter setting shall be provided with a ball valve on the street side and the <br />house side of the meter. Such valves shall be well protected from freezing. <br />Meters one (1) inch and larger shall be provided with ball valve, valved bypass <br />(one nominal size less than inlet) and ball valve, valved drain outlet with iron <br />pipe threads (plugged one nominal size less than inlet). This tee and ball valve <br />shall be installed between the meter outlet and the meter outlet ball valve. <br />E. Meter setting shall be accomplished with brass mechanical joint ahead of the <br />inlet ball valve. <br />
