Also legal. advisor Rod Lawson. <br />After a discussion period the following amendment was submitted. <br />by Clerk Mehsikomer: <br />Section I INTERPRETATION: SHORT TITLE <br />PURPOSES: This Ordnnance is enacted for the. following.purposes: <br />To promote the health, safety,moralsA and general.welfare of the <br />inhabitiants of the Village of lake Imo by lessening congestion <br />in the streets, securing safety frem.fire, panie.and other, dam- <br />gers; providing adequate light and air; preventing the overcrowd- <br />ing of land;avoiding undue concentration.of population; faciliting <br />the adequate provision of transportation, waterm.sewerage, schools, <br />parks, and other public requirements; conserving the value of pro- <br />perties, and encouraging the most appropriate use of the land. <br />SCOPE: From and after the effective date of this Ordinance, the use <br />of all land and every building or portion of a building erected, <br />altered,with respect to height and area,. added to or relocated, <br />and every use within a.building or use accessory thereto, in the <br />Village of Lake �lmoshall be in conformity with the,provisions <br />of this Ordinance. Any existing building or structure and any <br />existing use of properties not in conformity with the regulationd <br />herein prescribed shall be regarded as non -conforming but may <br />be continued, extendedly or changed subjedt to the special regulat- <br />ionsherein.provided with respect to nonconforming properties and <br />uses. <br />INTERPRETATION: In interpr6ting and applying she provisions of <br />this Ordinance, they shall be held to theminimum requirements <br />for the promotion of the public health, safety,00mfort, convenience <br />and general welfare. Where the provisions of this Ordinance im- <br />pose greater restrictions than those of any statute, other ord- <br />inanoe, or regulation, the provisions of this Ordinance shall <br />be controlling. <br />SHORT TITLE: This Ordinance shall be known and may be cited as <br />the "zoning ordinance of the Village of Lake Elmo". <br />SECTION II <br />The entire Village of Lake Elmo, except those areas described <br />as follows as a Business and Commercial District and..an.Indust- <br />rial District is hereby designated as a Residential District <br />and land therein shall be used for one familyprivate resident- <br />ial dwellings only. <br />
