R 70-5 <br />VILLAGE OF LAKE ELNO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MII NESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION RECO1,RVIENDING ESTABLISHMENT OF A METROPOLITAN PARK IN THE <br />VILLAGE OF LAKE ELMO. <br />WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Lake Elmo has become <br />aware that the Metropolitan Park Board and the Metropolitan Council have <br />been considering a proposal for the establishment of a Metropolitan Park <br />within said Village - specifically, within the area of Eagle Point Lake <br />and the southwestern side of Lake Elmo; and <br />WHEREAS, various persons and organizations have, from time to time, <br />been heard by said Council in connection with said proposed park; and <br />WHEREAS, said Council is of the opinion that the establishment of <br />said proposed park, within the Village of Lake Elmo, would be in the <br />best interest of both the residents of the Village of Lake Elmo and the <br />residents of the entire metropolitan area; and <br />WHEREAS, said Council and its predecessors has been presented from <br />time to time with the plans of private developers for development of the <br />same area now proposed for a Metropolitan Park and is of the opinion that <br />such private development, inconsistent with the proposed park plan, is <br />an immediate possibility; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Village Council of the <br />Village of Lake Elmo recommend to the Metropolitan Park Board and the <br />Metropolitan Council that the said proposed park be established within <br />the Village of Lake Elmo and that such action as may be necessary for <br />the acquisition of lands be taken at the earliest possible date because <br />of the immediate possibility of conflicting private development. <br />Dated March 3, 1970. <br />Calvin ,,J.
