Minutes of the Lake Elmo Village Council Meeting March 7, 1972 pg.2 <br />John Tromley requested time before the council even though he was not on <br />the agenda. He explained that he and some of his neighbors objected to <br />the village renaming their private road. The new name given was Janero <br />opposed to its original name HiView Drive. Council asked the clerk to <br />check and see if the old sign is still available and if so have it re- <br />installed. If sign can not be located council promised that a new sign <br />would be made and erected. Council pointed out that when the road is <br />improved and taken over by the village it would revert to the Janero name.. <br />Bill Hagbert-•Country Boy Store on Hwy. 212. Bill presented a plan of the <br />store asking the approval of the council since all commercial building <br />does require council approval. Council and village engineer reviewed the <br />plans and were satisfied. Plans as required were approved by an accredited <br />engineer. Motion by C. Shervheim 2nd by 0. Abercrombie to approve the <br />Hagber.g permit. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Clerk to arrange for a copy of the Bonestroo letter on water service to <br />be given to Bill Hagberg. <br />Mr. Dick Lambert failed to appear at his alloted time however council <br />was aware of part of the subject matter to be discussed and took action <br />on the Special Use Permit for dog racing near the Animal Inn the same <br />as held in 1971. Motion by C. Abercrombie 2nd by C'. Watson that since <br />there were no problems or complaints on this operation that the Special <br />Use Permit be approved under the same conditions as issued in 1971. <br />Carried. 5-0. <br />Counsel Raleigh reviewed the Valley Branch Watershed regulation and <br />made a report to the council on his objections to the proposal. <br />C. Shervheim presented a resolution endorsing the views of counsel and <br />asking counsel to present these views at the hearing on March 9, 1972 <br />at the Lake Elmo VFW H'all at 2:00 PM., 2nd by C. Watson and approved by <br />C 5-0. <br />Jim Olsen, Financial. advisor for the village will present the new bond <br />program at the next meeting. This covers the Crossroad Sewer project <br />and the Dawcin Acres road project. Treasurer Bill Park suggested that <br />consideration -be given land covered by the Careen Acres Plan in deter- <br />mining full program. <br />Motion by C. Watson 2nd by C. Shervheim that the firechi.ef receive 80% <br />of burninoPermits fees and 20% be retained by the village to cover office <br />expenses r the operation. Carried 5-0. <br />Question of how to handle street sweeping for 1972. It was decided that <br />rather than buy new equipment that we try to have work sublet. A quote <br />was received from T. A. Schifsky.. Action.was withheld for now until at <br />least one more bid is received. C'. Friedrich will pursue the additional <br />bid. <br />Motion by C. Abercrombie 2nd by C.Shervheim to approve amendments 1,2 0 , & <br />5 to :East Oakdale Ordinance 34 as recommended by Counsel Raleigh in letter <br />of February 18, 1972. Carried 5-0. <br />Motion by C. Watson 2nd by C. Shervheim to approve accepting the UBCCode <br />by reference with an effective date of April 1, 1972. Carried 5-0. <br />Counsel. to write letter to the Municipal Commission suggesting that they <br />consider annexing the West part of Baytown to the Village of Lake Elmo. <br />Clerk,adVised to reply to Barr Engineering advising that the work done <br />8A Lake Jane Drive re Dawcin Acres was prior to 'the regulations and that <br />the information requested is not readily available. <br />
