I" DRAFT <br />The Fire Chief informed the residents that if they would like to have the Dept. participate <br />in their neighborhood National Night Out to please contact him at 651-770-5006. The <br />Fire Dept. will also beTarticipating in "Firefighter Day" at the Washington County Fair <br />on Saturday, August 5 from 10 am-6 pm, and Lake Elmo will be there from noon - 2. <br />The Dept. will once again be having their annual Pancake Breakfast during Huff n Puff <br />Days. Pancakes will be served from 8-noon on August 12-13, at Station 41. The Fire <br />Dept is currently looking for daytime firefighters, primarily at Station 41 (downtown). If <br />parties are available and interested, he encouraged potential applicants to call the Dept. <br />The Lake Elmo Fire Explorers have been training for, and will be participating in a <br />competition at the state fair on August 25th. He suggested that any youths interested in <br />this program should contact station #1. They meet on Sunday evenings and learn the <br />skills to be a firefighter. <br />M/S/P Johnson/Smith — to approve the promotion of Steve <br />LeVasseur to Captain. (Motion passed 4-0) <br />8. CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT: <br />A. Lateral Charges for Water System Interconnect Ynase I ano u: <br />City Engineer Prew presented the Lateral Benefits Worksheets for Phases I and II of the <br />Water System Interconnect Project. The lateral charges would only be applied to <br />property owners wheritbey decided to use the public water supply, with the amount being <br />adjusted for inflation over time. <br />Discussion followed with the City Attorney regarding a proposed ordinance to formalize <br />the proposed lateral charges. <br />It was the consensus of the City Council that the ordinance required additional <br />information and requested staff and the City Attorney to bring the ordinance back to the <br />August 2, 2006, City Council Meeting. <br />C. Warning Sirens: <br />City Engineer Prew recommended approval of the new warning sirens, with a system <br />which covers the entire community and is up-to-date.
