DRAFT <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE N0. q, _ I G6 <br />AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PRIVATE WELLS <br />The Lake Elmo City Council hereby ordains that Section 600.21 of the Lake Elmo <br />City Code is hereby amended to read and that Section 600.21A. and B. are hereby added <br />to the Lake Elmo City to read as follows: <br />600.21 Private Wells. <br />A. Dual Water System. Except as provided in Section <br />600.21.B., a private well may be maintained and <br />continued in use after connections made to the City <br />water system, provided that there is no means of cross <br />connection between the private well and the City water <br />supply at any time. Hose bibs that will enable the <br />cross connection of the two (2) systems are prohibited <br />on internal piping of the well supply system. Threads <br />of the boiler drain of the well volume tank shall be <br />removed or the boiler drain hose bib replaced with a <br />sick faucet. Outside hose bibs will not be installed on <br />the municipal water system where dual water systems <br />are in use. <br />B. Sealing of Well Required. A private well which has <br />been declared a health hazard by resolution of the City <br />Council shall be sealed pursuant to the regulations of <br />the Minnesota Department of Health. <br />ADOPTION DATE: Passed by the Lake Elmo City Council on the _ day of <br />, 2006. <br />EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective the day following its <br />publication. <br />
