APPROVED JANUARY .0, 2007 <br />B. Lake Elmo Jaycees Proclamation <br />Mayor Johnston proclaimed the week of January 14-20, 2007, as Lake Elmo Jaycee <br />Week and urged all citizens of our Community to give full regard to the past and <br />continuing service of the Jaycees. <br />Jaycee's President Jill Anderson thanked the City for supporting the Lake Elmo Jaycee's. <br />Council thanked the Jaycee's for all of their continuing support and work in the City. <br />C. Announce 2007 Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting; Reminder of Local <br />Board Training <br />The Lake Elmo Board of Review will meet at City Hall on Wednesday, May 2, 2006, <br />between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the <br />assessment of said Real Estate for the year 2007. <br />3. PUBLIC INQUIRIES: <br />Resident David Slinger, 4620 Lake Elmo Avenue, spoke about the City maintaining and <br />improving the rural character of living in Lake Elmo. He also proposed establishing a <br />Farmer's Market so that residents may have an opportunity to sell their produce and <br />maintain the City's rural aspect. He provided a guideline handout to the Council for a <br />possible Farmers' Market in Lake Elmo. Mr. Slinger feels it is important for all citizens <br />of Lake Elmo to be able to sell any produce or grown items no matter what size lot they <br />have and not just for agricultural or rural residential lots. <br />Council directed his suggestions regarding the Farmer's Market to the Project Director, <br />and to have it included when discussing the Village plans. <br />4. ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING: <br />A. Election of Acting May <br />The Council must select an Acting Mayor to act on the City's behalf if Mayor Johnston is <br />unable to attend a meeting, sign an agreement or attend functions on behalf of the City. <br />Any member of the Council is eligible for this position. <br />M/S Johnston/Park — to nominate Liz Johnson as Acting Mayor. <br />M/No Second DeLapp — to nominate Anne Smith. <br />M/S/P Johnson/Johnston — to close nominations. (Motion Passed 5-0) <br />M/S/P Johnston/Park — to nominate Liz Johnson as Acting Mayor for 2007. <br />(Motion passed 5-0) <br />B. Designation of Legal Newspaper <br />Council discussed the various guidelines the City must follow to designate its Legal <br />Newspaper for 2007. Last year the City was required to designate the Leader as its paper, <br />but they no longer have an office in the City.
