Recycling: Administrator Kueffner reported Maroneys Sanitation did not inform their customers of the <br />change in its recycling policy, and she will contact them on Wednesday. <br />4. Public Inquiries/Public Informational <br />A. Public Inquiries: None <br />B. Presentation and request support for southern sport complex <br />John Melville, VAA Partnership <br />Dick Siver, Pres., gave a presentation and made an appeal for support to the Southern Valley Sports <br />Complex. Council member Dunn explained Lake Elmo provides recreational opportunities for the area. <br />This is not the first group looking for donations from the City and asks that this request be placed on cable <br />and in the City's newsletter. She suggested they place this issue on a referendum ballot as a means of <br />raising funds. <br />The City Planner asked for their information used to inventory fields within the 15 communities and <br />reasons why or why not the fields could be used. Mr. Melville will schedule a meeting with the Parks <br />Commission to discuss their Phase II. <br />Mayor Hunt explained the City has a policy of not giving out donations because too many public sectors <br />state they are worthy. The City has parks that this organization could use. <br />C. Local Board of Review (Confirm Date) <br />Lake Elmo Board of Review is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2000, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. <br />D. Metropolitan Council Transportation <br />Marc Huginen, Met. Council, advised Administrator Kueffner that the Transportation Committee would be <br />reviewing the airport noise amendment on January 24 at the Met Council. Lake Elmo has taken the <br />position that we followed all their rules and wants to remain a recreational airport. If people want to be <br />heard, they should write letters to the Metropolitan Airport Commission. <br />Once the City Administrator receives the meeting agenda, she will decide if there is strategy needed by the <br />City Council, <br />E. Year 2000 UPDATE <br />Mayor Hunt reported all issues were taken care of. <br />5. ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING: <br />A. Election of Acting Mayor <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Armstrong - to appoint Council Member Susan Dunn as Acting Mayor for 2000. (Motion <br />passed 4-0.) <br />B. Designation of Legal Newspaper <br />The City received two quotations from local newspapers; Stillwater Gazette and Lillie Suburban <br />Newspaper. The Stillwater Gazette publishes on a daily basis, and staff thought it is more important than <br />ever that we retain the flexibility we have because of the 60-day rule. <br />M/S/P DeLapp/Armstrong - to designate the Stillwater Gazette as the City's legal newspaper for 2000 <br />based on the past service to the City.
