Commander McGlothin responded that Woodbury has its own on -staff Fire
and Police Dept. where Lake Elmo contracts with Washington County
Sheriff's Dept. The Woodbury Fire Chief has stated that when they get a call
the first thing its crew does is grab a map to find the street they are
responding to. They asked if the City does not reinstate the uniform system,
it should use a system that has some rhyme and reason, which the Council
said they would like to see happen.
Reinstating the Uniform Name and Numbering System will be added to a
future agenda when an agenda is not so full. Council member DeLapp asked
that his article, "Towns in Washington Bringing Back Poetry in Street
Names" be sent out when this item is discussed.
B. Update on Building Dept. Activities: Jim McNamara
Jim McNamara provided a summary building report for the Year-end 2000.
Council member DeLapp asked if the cost of the permit is accurate to the
market rate. Jim responded that the permit fee has nothing to do with
assessed value.
8. CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT:
A. PUBLIC HEARING: 15t' Street Reconstruction
This is a public hearing to consider comments from residents and affected
property owners regarding the two options detailed in the 15`h Street
(between CSAH 13 and the Lake Elmo Park Reserve) Improvement
Feasibility Study. Notice was published in the Stillwater Gazette and
residents affected by this proposed project have been notified.
Staff met with representatives of the Linder family to discuss the two
options for the road improvement. The Linder's supported the improvement
of the road to 9-ton standards, acknowledging they will be paying for 45%
of the improvement. The Linder's had two requests: The first is that the
project is not done during their peak hours of operation, which end about
mid -July. The other request was that their cost for the project be spread over
30 years. The City requires that all developers construct 9-ton roads through
the City. All MSA projects done in the City also meet this 9-ton
requirement.
LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 16, 2001 6
