MIS/P Hunt/DeLapp - to draft a resolution stating the Lake Elmo City
Council disagrees with the Inter Regional Corridor Designation of Highway
36 because TH36 is the only trunk highway located entirely within the 7
county metropolitan area that has received the designation of an Inter
Regional Corridor, and objects to the negative impact on the character of
communities located along the TH36 corridor in the State for the sole benefit
of providing rapid access to Wisconsin by commuter traffic and closing
access to TH36 within the city will prove harmful to the city's residents and
businesses, and supports the designation of TH36 as a parkway with a speed
limit not to exceed 45 mph. This resolution will be sent to all surrounding
communities, MN Dept. of Transportation, Representative and Senator.)
Council member Dunn brought up the Successful Farming article featurin
Peter Schiltgen and his daughter, Molly.
Open Space Ordinance:
Administrator Kueffner reviewed the meeting tape and found the discussion
hard to follow. A suggestion was to have an acre, but there appeared to be a
compromise on a minimum of % acre. Council member DeLapp didn't think
this would be an issue. Mayor Hunt would have liked to have seen
something less, in the middle.
Administrator Kueffner called the Lake Elmo airport and voiced concern of
the airport lights aiming at the houses. The beacon gets out of kilter once in
a while and has been corrected.
ILUNFINISHED BUSINESS:
12.FINANCE DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
13.CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
Minor change for development agreement based on action taken tonight.
Assess rather than have the developer pay up front for cul-de-sacs and turn
lane costs.
M/S/P Dunn/DeLapp to amend Section 610C&D, as presented this evening.
(Motion passed 5-0.) Temporary cul-de-sac will be taken out as developed
per Tom Prew.
LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 18, 2001 12
