Approved February 5, 2002 <br />Lake Elmo <br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Tuesday, January 15, 2002 <br />6:00 P.M. Workshop — Appointments to Planning Commission <br />Administrator Kueffner reported that Planning Commissioner Kevin Herber <br />decided to retract his letter of resignation and would thereby complete his term; <br />and, that Commissioner Berg had reported he was very flattered to know that <br />the City Council would amend the Municipal Code which would allow him to <br />continue to serve. Administrator Kueffner asked the Council if the Parks <br />Commission Composition should be amended, as well. She stated that when <br />Commissioner Val Brass resigned, Dianne Taylor was appointed to fill that <br />term, thereby shifting Commissioner Deziel to First Alternate position, and <br />leaving the Second Alternate position vacant. She explained there were <br />vacancies on the Old Village Special Projects Planning Commission, <br />Maintenance Advisory Special Projects Planning Commission, and the <br />Environmental Management Commission. <br />Council Member Delapp expressed his desire to convert all alternate <br />commission positions to full voting member status. <br />Council Member Dunn explained that she served on the Parks Commission <br />nearly 25 years past and was involved in City land acquisition for Parks. She <br />noted that Parks Commissioners also work with residents in the area <br />identifying needs as well as make recommendations to the City Council. <br />Administrator Kueffner said Parks Commissioners also reviews Plats, and the <br />Comprehensive Parks Plan. <br />Planner Dillerud said Old Village Special Project Planning Commission meets <br />the first Monday of each month when current issues are discussed. Currently <br />the OV is working on execution of the previous plan. He explained a purpose <br />of the Old Village Special Projects Planning Commission is to determine how <br />the City could visualize 21st Century new housing in the Old Village area that <br />would reflect the character of the Old Village. He stated a consultant would be <br />hired to assist with this project thru a portion of a Community Development <br />Block Grant. <br />Lake Elmo City Council January 15, 2002 page 1 <br />
