interview people applying. There will be a workshop on property tax system at
Washington County on January 29, 5:30 p.m.
Council Member DeLapp reported the Governor Pawlenty has temporarily appointed
Mary Hill Smith to replace Ted Mondale as Chair of the Met Council. He pointed out that
the Community survey from Jaycees to help develop projects can be obtained at City
Hall.
Council Member Dunn stated she was pleased with the number of residents that came in
to discuss safety improvements on Hwy 5. She added that the split entry roads do cause
confusion and are a safety issue and that we should look at this requirement. Dunn
indicated she had asked for a special Council meeting, as soon as possible, with Attorney
Shoeberg in order to get an update on issues that have been lagging. Dunn said she has
been asked to serve at the Met Council, but then she would have to resign from her City
Council position.
Council Member Johnston stated he supported Sue Dunn's request for a special council
meeting. One of his campaign issues was to establish a Community Improvement
Commission. He will come back with a proposal for the next meeting and will contact
the Acting Administrator as to cost for staff support.
Attorney Filla stated serialized meetings are a risky business. Comments can be sent
through the Administrator as a clearing house to put together and then this input will be
sent to the Council. The public and planning commission members are to get their
comments to the Acting City Administrator.
Council Member Siedow asked if the Council should talk to the Met Council about a
settlement. Dillerud stated there will be a new Chairman or a new Met Council in a few
weeks. That new group may have more interest in a settlement favorable to Lake Elmo.
Adjourn the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by Sharon Lumby, Deputy Clerk
Resolution No. 2003-001 Authorize Signature for Payment of Funds from the Lake Elmo
Bank
Resolution No. 2003-002 Approve Claims
Resolution No. 2003-003 Approve Variance to Permitted Signs, Hilpisch & Pechan
Resolution No. 2003-004 Amend Text of 2000-2020 Comp Plan re:State Highway 5 and
Regional Trails, subject to Met Council review
Resolution No. 2003-005 Approve zoning variance to Eric Svendsen, 10920 32" d Street
Resolution No. 2003-006 Advise Washington County as to City's Determination re:Tax
Forfeit Parcels
LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 7, 2003 10
