R-74-22 <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF <br />LANDS BY WASHINGTON COUNTY FOR A LAKE ELMO METRO- <br />POLITAN PARK. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo and the <br />governing bodies that preceded it have, for many years, advoca- <br />ted the establishment of a metropolitan park in the City of Lake <br />Elmo in that area which has for some time been designated for <br />that purpose in the Regional Open Space Plans; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo has <br />reviewed the present request of Washington County for funds to <br />acquire lands for that purpose; and <br />WHEREAS, said City Council approved of the Washington <br />County request: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />(1) That the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby <br />urges immediate approval of the Washington County request for <br />funds by the Metropolitan Council and such other agencies as <br />may be required by law to pass thereon, so that the acquisition <br />of said lands may proceed forthwith. <br />(2) That said plan meets with the approval of the City <br />Council of the City of Lake Elmo; provided however the City <br />Council on recommendation of its Planning Commission suggests <br />the following changes: <br />a. That the areas designated in the Washington <br />County Acquisition Plan as 1 through 5 be included as <br />a first priority acquisition. <br />b. That the tract of land in the NE4 of Section 21 <br />lying East of the plat of Tablyn Park and presently owned <br />by the Top -Twenty, Inc. be included in the park lands as <br />a first priority acquisition. <br />C. That Tract 32 be excluded from the park lands. <br />The foregoing changes are recommended in order to protect <br />the natural amenities of the land included in the plan; to main- <br />tain the continuity of the regional park plan and protect the <br />shoreline of Eagle Point Lake; it is essential the Dayton -Hudson <br />property be acquired under the first priority acquisition before <br />the Dayton -Hudson development plan is submitted to the City of <br />
