MINUTES OF THE LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 18, 1975 pg. 2 <br />Eldon Loescher:Appeared relative to building a four-plex and a karate school on <br />34th St. North next to present four-plex. Mayor advised that the present <br />building was approved prior to the current regulation. A multiple resid- <br />ence is not a permitted use under the present zoning. Council attempted <br />to discourage on the grounds that it probobly would not be approved but <br />advised Mr. Loescher that if he still wanted to proceed with the rezoning <br />request he should make application thru the city office. <br />Traffic: Officer Furstenberg asked that the council consider posting speed zones <br />and/or children at play signs in the Hidden Bay Area. Children are <br />beginning to play in the streets and traffic is speeding up. Council- <br />man Pott will handle the posting. <br />Forester: Gerald Beach reported he was meeting with Mr. Benson and Mr. Auger on <br />Friday March 21,1975 to discuss the tree chipping operation. These <br />gentlmen should be advised to attend the next council meeting to dis- <br />cuss plans of operation with the council. They will be scheduled for <br />8:00 PM on April 1, 1975. <br />Tree Disease Control: Motion by Councilman Pott 2nd by Councilman Abercrombie to <br />publish the Lake Elmo Diseased Tree Control Policy. Carried 4-0. <br />Claims: Motion by Councilman Pott 2nd by Councilwoman Lyons to approve payment <br />of claims 75153 thru 75174. Carried 4-0. <br />Motion by Councilman Abercrombie 2nd by Councilman Pott to approve an <br />expenditure of $18.60 for the 1975 Dodge Guide for Estimating Public <br />Works Construction Costs. Carried 4-0. <br />Census: Motion by Councilman Abercrombie 2nd by Councilman Pott authorizing <br />Mayor & Clerk to enter into a contract with the Commerce Dep't for <br />a new census at a cost of $2,605.00. Carried 4-0. <br />W.Lundquist:Councilman Abercrombie presented Resolution R75-10 commending Mr. <br />Wm. Lundquist for his time and effort as Chairman of the Lake Elmo <br />PZC and asked council endorsement. 2nd by Councilwoman Lyons and <br />carried unanimously. <br />Olinger Pla :Because of the fog Olinger's decided not to appear. They will ask <br />to be rescheduled at a later date. <br />Correspondence:Letter from the county auditor requesting that Lake Elmo advise <br />their office when clean-up days are scheduled so they can arrange to <br />have the landfill open on Saturday. This indicates that the landfill <br />is still scheduled to be operational in May. Mayor Eder will pursue <br />this with the county and advise. <br />Letter from Mr. Champion advising that the police contract will be <br />acted on by the county board on April 7, 1975. Suggested that we <br />hold up payment until we receive a contract. <br />Letter from Thomas Scheuerman complying with Minnesota and DNR reg- <br />ulations to advise local unit of government of any change to shore- <br />line. Mr. Scheuerman has made application to DNR for a channel into <br />his property between lots 7 & 8 Ruth's Addition. <br />Adjournment:Motion by Councilman Pott 2nd by Councilman Abercrombie to adjourn <br />at 11:00 PM.
