MINUTES OF THE LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 4, 1975. <br />i <br />Meeting called t-o order at 7:33 P.M. by Mayor Eder <br />Present: Mayor Eder, Councilmen Abercrombie, Shervheim and Pott, <br />and Councilwoman Lyons. <br />Also present: Bldg. Insp. Mueller, Counsel Raleigh, Engineer <br />Bonestroo and State Rep. M. George. <br />Speed Zones: Officer Dale Furstenberg suggested that the council <br />attempt to get reduced speed zones for streets in the <br />Tri-Lakes area. Councilman Shervheim presented <br />Resolution R75-36 requesting reduction in speed limits, <br />for streets in Tri-Lakes area, be submitted to the <br />State Highway Department for approval and asked <br />council to approve. 2nd by Councilman Abercrombie. <br />Carried 5-0. <br />Flood Control: Engineer Bonestroo presented new listing of lake levels. <br />Changes recorded for period of October 13 to October 31 <br />show the following: <br />Long Lake S. down from 937.88' to 937.57' <br />Olson down from 929.31' to 929.08' <br />Deer Pond down from 923.95' to 923.93' <br />Jane down from 921.35' to 921.28' <br />Sunfish up from 891.10' to 891.22' <br />Lake Elmo still no reading. <br />Question was raised about the feasabil.ity of the <br />purchase of the low land behind Castle Greens as a <br />possible storeage area for some excess water in times <br />of high water -conditions. Motion by Councilman Pott <br />2nd by Councilman Shervheim that matter of purchase <br />of Norgaard Land for water storage area be referred <br />to the Valley Branch;Watershed District in form of a <br />letter. Carried 5-0. <br />Weather Station: Mayor Eder reported that he had discussion with <br />Mr. Earl Kuhnast, State C'limateologist, regarding <br />weather patterns and Lake Elmo rain and snow records. <br />Mayor Eder will attempt to get the highway department - <br />Region 9 at Highway 21.2 and Highway 694 to maintain <br />a gauge and report all records to the state. <br />Well Testing: Supplies are available for a test survey of wells in <br />the Lake Elmo area. Basically what is needed is man- <br />power and some funding. <br />Motion by Councilman Shervheim 2nd by Councilman Pott <br />to approve expenditure of up to $200.00 for testing <br />program. Carried 5-0. <br />
