R-75-38 <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION RECONFIRMING THE MAC'S CURRENT <br />ADOPTED MASTER PLAN (ADOPTED IN 1966) FOR THE <br />LAKE ELMO AIRPORT <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Airport Commission in 1966 held public hearings <br />on the expansion and ultimate role of the Lake Elmo Airport and the decision, at <br />that time, was to expand the airport as demand warranted up to a classification <br />as a general utility (GU) airport; a general utility airport being an inter- <br />mediate size general aviation airport with a mainwind runway 100 x 3900 feet <br />capable of handling 30,000 lb. single gear aircraft loadings consisting primarily <br />of light and medium twin -engine propeller aircraft and accommodating approximately <br />500,000 annual aircraft operations. Total size of such an airport would be <br />630-790 acres depending upon whether FAA or MDA approach zone criteria is used. <br />Such an airport would be operated with a non -precision instrument landing aids <br />system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Airports Commission has completed an Interim <br />report and such Interim report is now being submitted by the MAC to the Metro- <br />politan Council, the FAA and the MDA; and <br />WHEREAS, the Environmental and Transportation Committee of the Metropolitan <br />Council has reviewed the same report and made certain recommendations to the <br />Metropolitan Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo has reviewed said <br />.Interim report and the Environmental and Transportation Committee's comments <br />on the same, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lake <br />Elmo as follows: <br />1. The City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby approves and reconfirms <br />the current adopted Master Plan for the Lake Elmo Airport as approved in 1966. <br />2. The City Council hereby urges the Metropolitan Council to accept and <br />approve the MAC Interim study report and concur in the decision of the MAC not <br />to expand the Lake Elmo Airport beyond the said plan approved in 1966. <br />3. The City Council further urges that the MAC and the Metropolitan Council, <br />while approving and reconfirming the current adopted Master Plan as adopted in <br />1966 direct the draft of a final Master Plan report in accordance therewith and <br />recommend that during the process of technical committee review the following <br />provisions be incorporated into the final draft thereof: <br />(a) Provisions setting forth the MAC and Metropolitan Council's <br />recommendations for proper zoning to avoid and control the <br />development of incompatible uses and activities on or adjacent <br />to the land which constitutes the Lake Elmo Airport. <br />(b) The Metropolitan Council and MAC's recommendations and plans <br />for controlling the altitude of planes in the area adjacent <br />
