LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL, JULY 7,1981
-7-
Mottaz moved, seconded by Morgan, to adopt RESOLUTION
81-49, ordering plans and specifications for the 1981
MSA project; and authorizing the City Engineer and City
Administrator to take bids on the project. Motion
carried 5-0.
MSA STREET DESIGNATION, 39th STREET: Bohrer explained that he
asked the Council to look at designatinganother one-
half mile as an MSA Street; so that the City could
qualify for additional MSA funds. The partners of the
Brookfield Company had requested that 39th Street from
Laverne to Co. Road 17 be so designated, as it will
become a collector; and may relieve traffic at the
intersection of Co. Road 17 and Highway 5.
The Council felt it was more appropriate to continue
the MSA designation on 50th Street, east of Co. Road 17;
and instructed the Administrator to inquire if the
County had designated Co. Road 15 as a future MSA Street,
50th Street can be designated only if it runs from a
State Aid Street to another MSA Street, a County Road
or a State Highway. Presently, it intersects with Co.
Road 15 as planned; but, it does not meet the other
criteria.
Mottaz moved, seconded by Novak, to instruct the
Administrator to write a letter to Brookfield Company
advising them that another street is being considered
for MSA designation. Motion carried 5-0.
LEGION AVENUE SEWERS: Bohrer advised the Council that TKDA could
study the Legion Avenue sewer problems, in the 201 area,
first; so that the Council would have that information
upon which to make a decision about the Council order to
the residents on Legion to repair their systems by July
1,1981. The residents now claim they have had no
problems since they filled their lots on Legion pond.
The Council decided that, if the sewer systems are
functioning now, they should be considered in the
normal course of the 201 study. Morgan moved, seconded
by Mottaz, to rescind the order requiring improvements
to the sewers on Legion Avenue by July 1,1981. Motion
carried 5-0.
FRIEND EASEMENT: Bohrer reported that a discrepancy on the plat
left the status of the slope easement unclear. He had
suggested that the City vacate the entire 33 foot ease-
ment and require Friend to dedicate (by deed) the 20
foot easement needed for future improvements to 45th
Street near Jane Road North. This will accomplish the
same thing as their original motion to vacate 13 feet
of the existing easement. The Council agreed.
RENAMING
eAmended 7/21/81
Mottaz moved
"'LITTLE SUNFISH LAKE": The Council agreed that the City
should ask the DNR to rename "Little Sunfish" Lake, near
Cimarron, Lake Rose, after Rose Friedrich. *-T'ra-serr moved,
seconded by Eder, to adopt RESOLUTION 81-50, "A Resolu-
