LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING 10-18-83 Most of the buttons expense, to this point, may only cover the cost of renting the school and a couple associated costs. Whatever is collected is hoped to reduce the donation of the City of Oakdale and the City of Lake Elmo toward the installation of the plaque. He further stated that a dedication ceremony is planned at the entrance to Sunfish Park when the plaque is installed. M/S/P Mazzara/Dunn To allocate $500.00 to the Oakdale Township 125th Anniversary for the purchase of a plaque and its installationin in Sunfish Park. (5 ayes) B. Lake Level Elevations: - Eder submitted a report on lake level elevations that pointed out that a potential disaster exists should we have the kind of,Fall, with freeze, and the traditional type of snow melt situation that happens once every thirty years (or less) which was thought to possibly be the case in 1983. Eder suggested that those interested attend the 509 Meeting. The City has to have better ponding and movement of water solutions where they can be fitted in, and there has to be a storage area in West Lakeland to accomplish this. Eder stated he felt there was no acceptable solution other than connecting Lake Jane to Lake Elmo in some way, along with and lowering and widening the outlet out of Lake Elmo, and doing something between Horseshoe Lake and the pit to help get the water down to the Barton gravel pit. C. Christmas: - Fraser suggested that the mugs given by the City to employees and volunteers for commissions be considered. M/S/P Eder/Fraser To order the mugs in the appropriate quantities. (5 ayes) 10. Administrator's Report: A. Street Light - About 2500 Lake Elmo Ave. - M/S/P Fraser/Mazzara - To approve the installation of a street light at about 2500 Lake Elmo Ave., providing the residents that petitioned for the light assume the cost of installing the light. (5 ayes) B. Secretarial Positions: - M/S/P Fraser/Morgan - To adopt the proposed recommendations for the two secretarial positions from 10-13-83 memo. (5 ayes) C. Snow Plowing Contract: - Discussion of the quotes received from Dan Olinger and Bernard Meyer. Maintenance Foreman Wisdorf recommends that the bid be awarded to Dan Olinger. M/S/P Dunn/Mazzaa - Move to accept Olinger's snow plow bid for 1983-84 with arrangements worked out with City Administration. ( 5 ayes) Eder stated he wanted it on record that he has paid for Olinger's snow plowing services at his home for many years, and will continue to do so at his own expense. IM
