LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MEETING Page 7
for the 1983 expenditures. Whittaker stated that he thought we
would be low. Whittaker stated that there was approximately
$45,000 left in the park fund, or would be at the end of the year
after the City's share of Reid Park is paid. Also, $6400 was
put in for 1984.
M/S/P Morgan/Fraser - to adopt the present 5-year CIP, with the
consent to the Park Commission to do more detailed studies and
recommend revisions at a later date, if they feel the necessity.
(5 ayes)
Fraser expressed
concern
that the request for
an ice
rink at
Cimarron would
be passed
up, and that the
Council
should
establish some intent
of doing
something of that
nature.
That a
rink at Oakland
Junior High
School would not serve
the
purpose
for the younger
children.
Add Whittaker's
comment
that he
was working on
an ice rink
at Cimarron and will continue to do
3. Trail Grooming 1983-84: - Klaers stated that a
contract with the County for grooming ski trails in Sunfish Park
would be almost identical to the contract the City now has with
the County with minor adjustments for the wage increases on the
County level. He stated that the Park Commission would like
preliminary approval to enter into an agreement with the County,
and when a final contract is pepared come back to the City
Council for final approval. Last years cost was approximately
$550.00.
Morgan stated that the trails intended to have tracks set are not
in any condition to have tracks set. He stated the weeds have
not been mowed, and the trails in the woods that were supposed to
be widened, have only been partially completed. Morgan suggested
that Mike Polehna and the Park Commission get together and be
very specific as to which trails should be groomed.
M/S/P Morgan/Fraser To enter into a contract with the County to
groom the trails as designated by the Park Commission. (5 ayes)
4.Jaycees Resolution: -
M/S/P Morgan/Fraser to adopt Resolution 83-68 commending
theJaycee's for their support and active participation in
improving the City parks. (5 ayes)
9. Council Reports:
A. Discussion of the funding for the plaque for Sunfish
Park. Eder stated that most of the monies that would be used for
the plaque, and its installation, would come from the sale of
buttons. However, there have not been very many buttons sold.
Most of the buttons expense, to this point, may only cover the
cost of renting the school and a couple associated costs.
Whatever is collected is hoped to reduce the donation of the City
of Oakdale and the City of Lake Elmo toward the installation of
the plaque. He further stated that a dedication ceremony is
planned at the entrance to Sunfish Park when the plaque is installed.
