LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 5-1--811 <br />PAGE 11 <br />Bob Dreher, a property owner in Section 32 was present to discuss <br />future residential development in the area and the timing of the <br />Waste--To-Energy plant being in operation after the project proceeds. <br />The discussion centered on private versus public efforts to find <br />alternatives to landfills and it was not established that a private <br />company could do a better ,Job in running a waste--to-energy plant than <br />a public agency. <br />Consensus of the Council was that the County Board should make some <br />type of a presentation in the very near future to the property owners <br />in Section 32 in an effort to keep the citizens updated on the <br />progress of the Waste -to -Energy project. Mike Mazzara will work with <br />Commissioner Schaefer in organizing this presentation. <br />M/S/P Fraser/Mazzara •- To adopt resolution 84-35 requesting the <br />Waste--to-Energy Board make a presentation to the property owners in <br />Section 32 in an effort to update the citizens on the progress of the <br />Waste -to -Energy plant as the original timeframe has been delayed <br />numerous times. (Motion carried 4-0) <br />The contaminated landfill. situation (south of Lake Jane and east of <br />Jamaca) was briefly discussed. A committee to determine alternativv <br />water supply solutions will begin meeting on May 14th, 1984. <br />Committee members will be from Lake Elmo City Council, Lake Elmo <br />citizens, Washington County and Ramsey County staffs. Schaefer <br />indicated that this issue has a much higher priority than the <br />Waste -to -Energy project. Further reports are due from consulting <br />engineer's hired by Washington County (Hitchcock & Assoc) and that <br />report will be forwarded to the City Council when received. <br />Schaefer briefly updated the City Council on planned expenditures in <br />the Regional Park in 1984. The discussion touched on the presentation <br />at the April 17th meeting by Jack Perkovich, Washington County Parks <br />Director on the entrance to the Regional Park from the south.
