INFORMATIONAL MATERIAL FOR MAY 15 MEETING PAGE TWO
~^/ 7" Attached is a letter from Washington County rding the
first meeting of the Qivg[y CgAsittee" As
reported at the last Council meeting, this committee's first
meeting is scheduled for May 14, 1984, at 4300 p"m" in the
County Courthouse Board Room. Larry Bohrer and myself are
planning to attend and our Council Representatives on this
committtee are Maynard Eder and Bruce Dunn.
8, Wish to remind the Council that the BgqQ gf 6gy11W is
scheduled for Tuesday, May 22 from 2:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
in the Council Chambers. Some members of the Council may
also want to add this to the agenda under Council reports in
order to set up a schedule for atleast two Council members
to be present at all times.
9. Attached is a League of Hi[l[lplgt9 Citi99 MgMg regarding
three openings on State Boards and Commissions" Any Council
member interested in seeking application for one of these
positions should contact me and I will obtain the forms from
the Secretary of State. Of particular interest to our area
is the Minnesota/Wisconsin Boundary Area Commission.
10" I have previously indicated that the QEppt OU000ing
operation was to begin late last month" The rain and snow
did not permitted this to take place. The street sweeping
operation, according to Dave Wisdorf, is scheduled to begin
~/ as soon.as the weather permits and may be under way by the
time you receive this memo.
11. Attached are two maps of the QQ EQQ Rggiggyl PgEk Rg1pEMq
describing current park development and future park
development" These maps were distributed as part of a
resentation by Jack Perkovich, Washington County Parks
Jirector, to the Lake Elmo Business Association on May 7,
19841.
" In my last few Informational Memos I have been providing you
with up -dates on the Klghg gpp11gQ1g[l and how he is
proceeding through the Planning Commission" Yesterday, I
received a phone call from Mr" Klohn and he indicated that
he must regretfully withdraw his applications at this time.
After discussions with Bruce Folz, review of the soil
conditions, has
requirements and street requirements,
Mr. Klohn has determined that the expense is not worth the
risk. I am not sure if this is a temporary setback or if
Mr. Klohn is completely abandoning his plans" The staff
will just have to take a wait and see attitude on this
broodmare farm concept.
Not all the staff time spent on this project was a total
loss as we gained valuable experience in dealing with a new
application; and,"11r. Klohn spent $200 for the two public
hearings that were scheduled, which has helped defray the
staff expenses.
