,INFORMATIONAL MEMO FOR JULY 3,L984 MEETING PAGE TWO
 x^
Unless I hear otherwise from the City Council, I will
forward these two suggested areas for improvements to the `
Lions Club. The Lions Club can then feel free to talk to
myself and the Fire Department regarding possible
improvements in that area and with myself and the Park
Commission regarding improvements in Lions Park. If the
City Council had additional areas they would like the Lions
Club to look at, please feel free to Wing these areas to my
attention.
5. Attached is some information regarding an pM@lL!Qign gf thq
MMA0001itan Wagil" The evaluation has been requested by
the Legislative Audit Commission but, in reality, is not a
financial evaluation but a performance evaluation" The
background information on the history of the Met Council is
interesting and the Council may find this material very
informative.
6^ About six weeks ago a representative from Pinky's Sewer
Service, Mr. Tom Palecek, appeared before the Council to
inform the City about what the MQEgpgligQ[l Wggto CgUtCgl
CgMMQMig0 was proposing in terms of QgW [gggIgtig[lp @nd
Eglag^ Mr, Palecek was basically correct in the information
he presented to the Council" MWCC is proposing and studying
different sites throughout the Metropolitan area as being
designated drop off sites for the sludge that the sewer
~/ pumpers collect" Nothing at this point has been finalized.
They expect a final report to be submitted to the MWCC
Commission by the and of the summer. The staff at MWCC is
sending me a draft proposal" When thds proposal is received
in City Hall I will photo copy the pertinent sections for
the City Council. As this plan must be approved by the MWCC
Board it will logically receive a public hearing and cities
and owners of sewer services will most likely be notified of
the pending action by MWCC" Mr" Palecek was also correct in
indicating that if this propoal is adopted it will
definitely increase the rate the pumpers must charge the
homwowners or businesses to pump their systems" The staff
at MWCC believes that control is needed over the sewer
pumpers to eliminate unlawful disposal of the sludge; and,
control mechanisms generally cost money to be implemented"
This increased cost will be the end result of any rules that
are implemented. ,
7^ Attached are two letters from residents in the Tri-Lakes
area regarding wazer damag*_to their homes" The letter from
Manley Marcellu--'s-to --~ the County Auditor requesting a
reduction in his assessed valuation because of water damage"
This request is to be evaluated by the County Assessor and
if they have any recommendations these will he forwarded to
the City Council for action if appropriate.
~
