There are 3367 <br />registered voters in the City of Lake Elmo and of the 2881 ballots <br />that were cast, 535 individuals registered on,election day• <br />s i <br />There were also 21 spoiled ballots, some of which were revoted an <br />some of which were not. The Adminstrator dial not have an exact f1.gu r <br />as to how many of the 21 individuals realized their mistake and ask.ec� <br />for another ballot, or how many of those Individuals placed the ballot: <br />in the box. There were 29 damaged ballots that were remade at the <br />/ County. <br />M/S/P Morgan/MaZ'Lara - To certify the totals .from election returns <br />and declare these totals the result of the General City Election held <br />November 6, 19811. (Motion carried 3-0-1 <Eder>). <br />B. Recount Ballots Procedure <br />Eder stated that should anyone ever choose to ask for a recount, there: <br />has to be some type of bond, and it is up to the City Council to set a <br />bond for whatever it would cost the City to recount, the ballots. <br />There is no apparent margin of error counting the ballots on the <br />computer, however should anyone want a recount, they have to ask for <br />it within seven days of the election and the City Council is the only <br />one that can set the amount of bond. <br />In determining what it; would cost, for the recount, it was estimated by <br />the City Administrator that, it would take two City employees and two <br />County employees four hours of time, and felt- the cost would be in the <br />area of $250• however, lie suggested the Council approve the actual. <br />expenses of staff time, not to exceed $300. <br />
