R-84-33 <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING WASHINGTON COUNTY TO TAKE THE <br />NECESSARY ACTION IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE SPEED ZONES ON <br />CERTAIN PORTIONS OF LAKE ELMO AVENUE NORTH (CSAH 17) <br />WITHIN SAID CITY <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo is <br />concerned about vehicular traffic on its streets and that said <br />vehicular traffic should travel at speeds which are not <br />excessive; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is also very concerned about <br />the safety of its residents when walking, jogging, running or <br />bicycling along the streets in the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City <br />Council that there currently is vehiclular traffic on Lake Elmo <br />Avenue North in the City which is traveling at excessive speeds; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of <br />the City of Lake Elmo as follows, to -wit: <br />The City Council of the City of Lake Elmo hereby requests <br />Washington County to take the action necessary to lower <br />the speed limit to a safe and reasonable level for that <br />portion of Lake Elmo Avenue North (CSAH 17) starting at <br />20th Street and going north until it meets the existing <br />thirty (30) mile per hour speed zone. This approximate <br />eight -tenths of a mile stretch of street is currently in <br />a forth -five (45) mile per hour speed zone and is <br />considered unsafe by the City Council for residents in <br />the area. <br />ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo, <br />Washington County, Minnesota, this 17th day of April, 1984. <br />SIGNED:� / <br />Mayna6j L.
