R-84-34 <br />RESOLUTION <br />CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MICHAEL POTT FOR HIS ROLE IN THE <br />RESCUE OF TWO FISHERMEN FROM LAKE DEMONTREVILLE ON APRIL 14, 1984. <br />WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo Volunteer Fire Department has <br />developed an intensive emergency rescue program which provides <br />emergency training for its volunteer firemen; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Washington County Sheriff"s Department received <br />a 911 emergency rescue call on April 14, 1984, concerning an <br />overturned canoe in Lake Demontreville; and, <br />WHEREAS, Lake Elmo Volunteer Fireman, Michael Pott, along <br />with Washington County Deputy Dennis Widenstrom, were the first <br />responders to this emergency call; and, <br />WHEREAS, Michael Pott, because of his training and ability <br />to handle emergency situations, along with Deputy Widenstrom <br />located a boat and with discarded boards paddled out to the <br />middle of Lake Demontreville where they promptly and efficiently <br />initiated the life saving rescue of Terence Smith and Robert <br />Larkin. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of Lake Elmo, that Michael Pott is hereby commanded for his <br />part in the competent, expedient and efficient life saving rescue <br />of Terence Smith and Robert Larkin from Lake Demontreville on <br />April 14,1984. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council also expresses <br />its appreciation to the Lake Elmo Volunteer Fire Department for <br />the selfless devotion and excellent training that the men of this <br />department continually demonstrate as volunteer firemen. <br />ADOPTED this 1st day of May, 1984, by the City Council of <br />the City of Lake Elmo, Washington County, Minnesota. <br />SIGNED: <br />Maylv0d L.
