LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br />PEBRUARY 19, 1985 <br />Mayor Morgan called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. in the council <br />chambers. Present: Armstrong, Christ, Dunn, Mazzara, City <br />Administrator Klaers, City Engineer Bohrer. <br />1. Agenda <br />M/S/P Morgan/Mazzara - To adopt the agenda as amended - Add 8E <br />Slawson large lot subdivision. (Motion carried 5-0) <br />2. Minutes: February 5, 1985 <br />M/S/P Dunn/Christ - To approve the minutes of the February 5, 1985 <br />City Council meeting as amended (Page 4). (Motion carried 5-0) <br />3. Claims <br />M/S/P Mazzara/Christ - To approve claims 85816 thru 85870 as <br />presented. (Motion carried 5-0) <br />4. Interview with applicant for second alternate position on the <br />Parks Commission. <br />The Council interviewed Tom Simpson, 5270 Jamaca Blvd. North. Mr. <br />Simpson stated that although he lives across the street from Kleis <br />Park, he is interested in and uses other parks in the City. He added <br />that he would like to see the parks kept in their natural state as <br />much as possible; would be willing to donate time for park activities. <br />Dunn commented that although he does not know Mr. Simpson personally, <br />the Parks Commission has commented on the work that he has done in <br />Kleis Park. While there are two applicants for this position, Mr. <br />Simpson has already shown a sincere interest in the parks by <br />participating in the tree planting program and with his work in Kleis <br />Park. <br />M/S/P Dunn/Christ - To appoint Tom Simpson to the second alternate <br />position on the Parks Commission. (Motion carried 5-0) <br />5. Public Hearing for Gisela Lee at 3479 Lake Elmo Avenue <br />for variance to the sign code. <br />Pursuant to published notice this public hearing was opened at 7:17 <br />P.m. in the council chambers. <br />Ms. Lee was present and stated her request is for a variance from <br />Section 505.080 of the city code which prohibits signs within a public <br />right-of-way. She is proposing to construct a business identification <br />sign on the sidewalk in front of her business. There is 109" from her <br />building to the curb, and the sign post will be set back from the <br />curb approximately 30". The sign will be offset from the front steps <br />of the building to the north. She further requested permission to <br />install a flower box 18" wide under the sign and around the pole <br />toward the curb. <br />
