ci r House. 162 Charles Avenue
St. Paul. Minnesota 55103
° 612-222-0206
May 19, 1989
Dear Lake Elmo Homeowner,
Our firm is part of a research team which has been contracted by Washington
County to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the landfill
inventory site in Lake Elmo. Please see the enclosed map. Washington County
is required to have the EIS prepared.
One aspect of this study is to interview homeowners near the landfill by Lake
Jane. We want to understand the effects of this earlier landfill before
projecting the effect of a landfill at Site G.
All interviews will be by phone. We will use a prepared set of questions
which have been reviewed by representatives of the city of Lake Elmo, Washington
County, and ReaPP. The main topics we will cover in the interview are:
1. Perceptions you have about your neighborhood and the neighborhood near
Site G.
2. Effects of the Lake Jane landfill and its cleanup on your family and
neighborhood:
a. Time spent
b. Nuisances caused
C. Satisfaction with outcome
d. Relationship with city and county.
3. Your current plans for your own property.
4. Changes to your plans which may have occurred because of the existing
landfill at Lake Jane.
5. Potential impacts on these plans you expect if the landfill at Site G is
built.
Interviews will be conducted during late May and early June. If you feel the
interview should be directed to someone other than yourself, please refer us
to that individual when we call.
Data that could identify you or your parcel will be kept by the consultant
only. This includes names :and any responses associated with those names.
Neither you nor your parcel will be specifically tied to responses in the
EIS. Only overall trends will be reported in the EIS.
If you need to talk to someone at Wa in to County about this survey, please
contact Tack Hansen at 779-5445 Cil ,,.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
John Genereux
John and Michele 6anereux
research consultants
in the social sciences
