If the sprinkling ordinance <br />stands, the County would consider separating the building because of <br />costs. Their architect will have to look at this. <br />The Lake Elmo Business, Association, Kelly Brockman stated, would support <br />repealing of this ordinance. <br />M/S/P Hunt/Graves - being the time was 7:20 p.m., to move Agenda Item 9A <br />after Item 4 because the Budget Hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (Motion <br />carried 4-0). <br />9. CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT: <br />A. Final Payment: Ashbach Construction for 1989 Street Repairs <br />On September 5, 1989 the City Council gave authority to the City <br />Administrator to award the construction contract for the 1989 street <br />repairs based upon the City Engineer's recommendation and provided the low <br />bid was within the budgeted amount. Four bids were received with the low <br />bid supplied by Ashbach Construction Company of St. Paul for $32,207.35. <br />Since the budget for these contract repairs was $35,000, a contract was <br />awarded to Ashbach. <br />City Engineer, Larry Bohrer reported the work is now complete and ready <br />for final acceptance. Bohrer recommended that final payment be awarded in <br />the amount of $31,972.03 as shown on the Final Estimate and Certificate. <br />M/S/P Graves/Hunt - resolved that the City Council hereby approves the <br />Final Payment to Ashbach Construction, in the amount of $31,972.03 for the <br />1989 Street Repairs, in accordance with the accepted bid. (Motion carried <br />4-0). <br />10. FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT: <br />A. Award of Bid: Fire Truck Body/Chassis <br />Fire Chief Pott presented the following bids: <br />Chassis: North Sitar $33,998.84 <br />Alternate ,Bid 49,155.94 <br />Astleford $34,131.00 <br />Alternate Bid 48,2.31.00 <br />Body: General Safety $134,985.00 <br />Fire Chief Pott recommended an automatic transmission with a cost of <br />$15,000 because this was the best way to go because of less experienced. <br />drivers. Pott added three items could be deleted out of the $135,000 and a <br />possible trade-in of old truck for $10,000-$11,000 to enable them to get <br />this automatic transmission. Pott did not recommend either bid at this <br />time, but if the money is there for the automatic transmission, they will <br />work both bids and determine the low bidder and come back to the Council. <br />
