LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 21, 1989 PAGE 7 <br />The Council was in favor of the automatic transmission at this time and <br />awaited Fran's selection of one of the two bidders. <br />M/S/P Graves/Hunt - to approve the acquisition of a chassis from either <br />North. Star or Astleford to include an automatic transmission on the bid <br />vehicles and approve the bid from General Safety in the amount of <br />#134,985.00 for the body of the new pumper. (Motion carried 4-0). <br />B.. Repair of Station $1 Roof <br />Fire Chief Fran Pott indicated two roofing bids for Station $1 were <br />received. One bid proposed an overlay of the existing roof and the other <br />proposed removal of the old roof and installation of a complete new one. <br />The bids were $4300 and $6850. City Engineer, Larry Bohrer reviewed these <br />bids and recommended that the old roof be completely removed before the <br />new one is installed and gave them an eleven point specification list for <br />the roof. <br />The roofers were asked to rebid based on these specifications. Two bids <br />were received, one for $6230 and the other for $7903. The Fire Department <br />recommended that the Council accept the low bid of $6230 and pay for it <br />from the Fire Department Reserve. <br />M/S/P Williams/Graves - to accept the low bid of $6230 from Ryan Roofing, <br />No. St. Paul, as recommended by the Fire Chief for repair of roof of Fire <br />Hall to be paid from the Fire Departments Reserves. (Motion carried 4-0). <br />C. Retirement of Fire Chief Fran Pott <br />Fire Chief Pott reported he has submitted his resignation and Dick Sachs <br />has been elected as the new Fire Chief and will take office at the end of <br />the year. <br />Fran was asked to serve as the City's Civil Defense Director, which <br />position Fran was willing to serve as. <br />The Council appreciated everything Fran has done for the community. Mayor <br />Dunn will be setting up an Open House at the Fire Hall sometime in January <br />or February to honor Fran Pott and. Jerome Eder. <br />M/S/P Hunt/Williams - with regrets, the Council accepts Fran Pott's <br />resignation as Fire Chief around the end of the year. (Motion carried <br />4-0). <br />M/S/P Graves/Hunt - to appoint Fran Pott as Lake Elmo's Civil Defense <br />Director. (Motion carried. 4-0). <br />11. CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />A. Proposed Fee Increases <br />A survey was made of surrounding communities' charges for various <br />development costs, including OUP's variances, rezonings, and platting. <br />Results of that survey were handed out. <br />Councilman Williams was in agreement with almost everything presented by <br />the staff.
