WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo believes that this is a <br />metropolitan and statewide problem as evidenced by the support of the <br />League of Minnesota Cities and Association of Metropolitan <br />Municipalities for careful legislative scrutiny of this issue and <br />support for restrictions on this power of the Municipal Board; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo believes that the situation has <br />already gotten out of hand and permanent harm is occurring to <br />municipalities with no benefit to the public economy in any way <br />whatsoever, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Lake ELmo wishes <br />to state publicly for the benefit of any and all. concerned and, in <br />particular, for the benefit of the Minnesota Legislature, that it <br />strongly supports any and all efforts to restrict authority on the part <br />of the Municipal Board to authorize detachments and annexations based <br />upon petitions of landowners pursuant to the provisions of Minn. Stats. <br />414.061, subd. 5, and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, <br />supports the repeal of the aforesaid provision and in particular, <br />supports the legislation to effect the purposes stated in this <br />resolution. <br />ADOPTED, by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo this 21st day <br />of February, 1969. <br />Signed; <br />Susan Dunn, Mayor <br />
