LAKE ELMO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 16, 1990 PAGE 11 C. Solid Waste Seminars The Council received brochures on upcoming Solid Waste Seminars. Councilman Williams encouraged the members of the Solid Waste Advisory committee to attend regional seminars on solid waste reduction, recycling and disposal. based on the following Findings of Fact: (1) Disposal of solid waste is of ever --increasing importance to our Society; (2) The City has been, currently is, and will continue to be affected by solid waste disposal in the Metropolitan area; (3) The city and its residents will benefit from maintaining a knowledge of developments in solid waste reduction, recycling and disposal. The Council agreed with Councilman Williams' comments and encouraged the members of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee to attend the free solid waste education meetings. They also encouraged the members to present proposals for attendance at various seminars which require registration fees. Approval will be based on the budget once this figure has been identified by our Finance Director. D. Repair Lights in City Office Allied Electric submitted a quote of $400 for labor to lower the fixtures in offices and secure ballast to can, plus costs for replacing bad ballasts. (Cost is $15/ballast). Also, the outside light on the flag will be repaired. The warranty for this work will be looked into. Since there was no objection by the Council, the staff will proceed with the arrangements with Allied Electric. The cost of this work to be taken out of the Building fund. E. Other As an informational item, the staff handed out a letter received by the City from the Minnesota Dept. of Jobs and Training. The Council had no comments on the letter.
