Solid Waste Seminars <br />The Council received brochures on upcoming Solid Waste Seminars. <br />Councilman Williams encouraged the members of the Solid Waste Advisory <br />committee to attend regional seminars on solid waste reduction, <br />recycling and disposal. based on the following Findings of Fact: (1) <br />Disposal of solid waste is of ever --increasing importance to our <br />Society; (2) The City has been, currently is, and will continue to be <br />affected by solid waste disposal in the Metropolitan area; (3) The <br />city and its residents will benefit from maintaining a knowledge of <br />developments in solid waste reduction, recycling and disposal. <br />The Council agreed with Councilman Williams' comments and encouraged <br />the members of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee to attend the free <br />solid waste education meetings. They also encouraged the members to <br />present proposals for attendance at various seminars which require <br />registration fees. Approval will be based on the budget once this <br />figure has been identified by our Finance Director. <br />D. Repair Lights in City Office <br />Allied Electric submitted a quote of $400 for labor to lower the <br />fixtures in offices and secure ballast to can, plus costs for <br />replacing bad ballasts. (Cost is $15/ballast). Also, the outside <br />light on the flag will be repaired. The warranty for this work will <br />be looked into. Since there was no objection by the Council, the <br />staff will proceed with the arrangements with Allied Electric. The <br />cost of this work to be taken out of the Building fund. <br />E. Other <br />As an informational item, the staff handed out a letter received by <br />the City from the Minnesota Dept. of Jobs and Training. The Council <br />had no comments on the letter. <br />M/S/P Graves/Williams - to adjourn the City Council meeting at 9:25 <br />p.m. (Motion carried 5-0). <br />
