Budget cost: Tools $1,000 <br />Phone 500 <br />Utilities 1,200 <br />Maintenance 600 <br />Truck <br />$3 , 200 <br />*The need for a Parks truck is a separate issue; <br />independent of whether or not there is a Parks Dept. <br />Also, the $500 for building maintenance would be a cost <br />to the City either way. <br />There would be a loss of revenue to the City by not <br />renting the building -- could range from $6,000 to 8,400. <br />However, our Attorney has advised, the City must begin paying <br />taxes on the property if we rent it. Estimated taxes on an <br />assessed valuation of $130,000 is $4,277. So, renting is less <br />attractive then may seem. <br />-- to consider the option of Parks dept. being a division <br />within the Public Works dept. <br />That's basically what it is now. I see no administrative <br />improvement in response to the needs of our Park system or r <br />our Parks Commission with this suggested option. <br />I urge the Council to reconsider this matter favorably. <br />
