Septic pumpers charge about $80 <br />for a 2,000 gallon load. It is this pumping cost, and the temptation for illegal pumping <br />that make this an unattractive option. <br />2. Annual Cost <br />Initial Cost <br />$2,000.00 <br />Annual Pumping Cost <br />Plow Rate (GPD) na $80/2,000 Gallons <br />50 $730.00 <br />100 1,460.00 <br />200 2,900.00 <br />Allow Variance Option <br />Discussion <br />A residential septic system is sized based on the number of bedrooms a house has. hi <br />Lake Elmo this is 450 Gal/Day for a 2 bedroom house, and 600 Gal/Day for a 3 bedroom <br />house. However, a typical Lake Elmo resident uses far less water than this. Also, the <br />State code is 150 Gal/Day less than our code. Therefore it seems reasonable to allow, on <br />a case by case basis, a reduction to this code so that some new on -site drainfields can be <br />built. Also this would cost the area residents significantly less than the first two options. <br />We would still need to acquire a community drauhfield site for those properties unable to <br />get a varience. <br />Sincerely, <br />Thomas D.
